Persimmon (Diospyros kaki)
Kaki fruit, also known as Japanese persimmon, is a colorful fruit with a sweet and slightly tangy flavor. It can be green, yellow, or orange when ripe and comes in different shapes and sizes, ranging from round to acorn-shaped.
There are two main types of kaki fruit: astringent and non-astringent varieties. Astringent kaki fruit must be very ripe and soft before eating. On the other hand, non-astringent persimmon fruit can be enjoyed either when crispy or when ripe.
Kaki fruit is a delicious fall and winter treat rich in vitamins and antioxidants.
