Persimmon

Persimmon - Varieties

  • Fuyu (Non-astringent)

Fuyu persimmons are known for their squat, tomato-like shape and bright orange color when ripe. They have a smooth, crisp texture when not fully ripe, transitioning to a soft and creamy texture when ripe. Their flavor is sweet and slightly honeyed.

  • Jiro (Non-astringent)

Jiro persimmons are small, round, and vibrant orange. They have thin skin and a crisp, apple-like texture, even when fully ripe. Their flavor is sweet with a hint of tartness.

  • Hachiya (Astringent)

Hachiya persimmons are acorn-shaped and bright orange. They're astringent and inedible when unripe, but they're sweet and rich when fully ripe and soft.

  • Tamopan (Astringent)

Tamopan persimmons are known for their flattened round shape and deep orange color. Like Hachiya persimmons, they require full ripeness to lose their astringency and develop a rich, sweet flavor.
